Over the years we have seen so many people who really want to buy their own ski boots but are scared to do so because it’s a such big financial investment and if you get it wrong it’s not just a waste of money but can also end up ruining your skiing totally.

The Art of Bootfitting

BootFITTING – as opposed to just selling boots – is unfortunately a dying art as experienced people leave the industry and there’s no new blood coming in to replace them. Back in the 90s, as some of our longstanding clients will remember, we had our own very technical boot lab and were part of literally a handful of very high end bootfitters, most of whom for various reasons are no longer around.

These days we’re not going back into selling boots ourselves, but we do know an awful lot about how to do bootfitting right and have some of the most experienced bootfitters in the business working for us.

Boot Test Centre

As part of the first phase of the development of Snowberry Streetside, we’re really excited to be introducing the first ever totally independent Boot Test Centre anywhere in the World (at least as far as we know), totally taking the risk out of buying boots.

Customers will have a full consultation and analysis just as they would in one of the very few specialist sales boot labs left these days, but will then be able to ski in the recommended boots to make 100% sure they are making the right decision.

Then you’ll be able to go off and buy your new boots elsewhere in Val, in your local ski shop back home or even at a cheap price online with the certainty that you are making the right choice.

Our test product is also available as a Prestige Rental boot range for people who may not even be interested in buying but just want the very best.

Consultation & Analysis

For those wishing to rent or test high end boots, the fitting process is slightly more involved. High end boots require a far more detailed and time consuming process, involving a more detailed foot and biomechanical analysis, more detailed fit checks and a degree of customisation.

High end boots require a far more detailed and time consuming process, involving a more detailed foot and biomechanical analysis, more detailed fit checks and a degree of customisation.

The Analysis Procedure

We will analyse the lower leg biomechanics and look at the relationship between the lower leg and the boot cuff - realigning the cuff as necessary.

We carry out a full shell check of the foot inside the shell - checking the space available for the foot and any problems that might occur with the shell / foot interface.

We will adjust the orthotic type depending on the underfoot analysis and any foot stability issues.

Ski Test Centre

To run alongside our Boot Test Centre, we are also introducing a formalised Ski Test programme.

We have a huge range of skis available (over 160 models!) from all ski categories and most of the major ski manufacturers.

You can try several pairs of skis out on the same day, in the same conditions, to find the one you want to buy or can test different models over several days.

We won’t be selling skis, so our advice on the best options is totally impartial and means you can then take advantage of cheap deals online or on the high street without risking an expensive mistake.
