Guide 2 Val d’isère

Holiday Essentials

As well as your transport to the resort, accommodation and ski lessons, there are a few other essentials you'll need to organise for your trip.

Getting these right can make all the difference to your holiday and means you're not panicking trying to get everything organised and everyone out to the meeting point by 9.00 am on your first morning.

We'd strongly recommend arranging all of these before you arrive. It may not save you a great deal of money (some things cost exactly the same whether you book in advance or not), but having everything sorted beforehand will save an awful lot of stress and hassle.

The number one thing everyone will need, of course, is kit. You can't ski without skis!

We do genuinely remember one client who turned up to meet her instructor at the bottom of the lifts on her first morning and was quite shocked to discover he hadn't brought a pair of skis and boots for her!

You'll also need a lift pass unless you're an absolute beginner, in which case check with your instructor before buying one.

And if you're bringing the kids – especially younger children who won't necessarily be up for skiing all day – you'll need to think about who is going to look after them while you're enjoying the mountain.

It's only a bit of planning, but it can make the difference between a frantic first morning and a relaxed start to your holiday.

02. Your Lift Pass

In some resorts, just getting up the mountain can be a real mission. Not in Val d'Isère. Our lift system is one of the most modern and efficient anywhere in the world, and once you've bought your lift pass everything just works.

03. Childcare

If you're coming to Val d'Isère with young children, whether they’re too young to ski or will ski for a few hours but need looking after for the rest of the day, there are plenty of options.
